Kumon Helps Children Succeed in School & Life
Watching a child struggle in school is a nightmare for almost any parent. The agony of homework and the anxiety of test-taking can also be stressful. Kumon Math and Reading Centers assist students who are struggling in school and need to catch up, as well as those who are seeking enrichment and want to advance. Designed for students from pre-school to college level, Kumon helps children master skills in math and reading. Children in the program gain the much needed confidence to achieve success in school.
Students begin the Kumon program at a comfortable starting point and work independently on daily worksheets that follow a naturally coherent logical progression. To build confidence and self-learning skills, children advance at their own pace in the Kumon curriculum. Most students attend the Kumon Math and Reading Center twice a week, all year round, and complete brief daily assignments on their own the other days of the week.
Students learn to achieve 100 percent accuracy in each concept before learning a new one and moving ahead to the next level. Mastery of each new concept ensures children are confident in their ability. In addition to helping students grasp the basics and build a strong academic foundation, the daily timed assignments enable students to develop key time management and problem-solving skills and become accustomed to working under test-taking conditions.
Kumon Instructors help their students gain confidence to try new concepts on their own, and soon discover that the academic skills they’ve gained can be transferred to other areas of their life. Once a child gains confidence to learn on his or her own, they begin to problem solve, think critically and explore new interests.
